The French national rugby team - Les Bleus - celebrated 100 years of playing in what is now the 6 Nations. This anniversary was further marked by the first 3D broadcast of a rugby match in France, an achievement made possible through the technical expertise of Euro Media Sport.
Working with France Télévisions, CielEcran and Eutelsat, Euro Media Sports provided facilities including eight 3D camera rigs, made up of 16 cameras. The rigs included one mounted on a crane, another on a dolly track and a third mounted in a Steadicam harness. Video and audio operations were controlled from Euro Media Sports’ Road 3 digital OB truck.
The game was shown in 30 cinemas across France on 20th March, giving audiences a new experience in watching sport and the feeling that they were actually in the Stade de France.
