After nine years, the American punk trio "Green Day" has once again visited Munich and put on an amazing show.
The band performed a selection from eight of their albums at the sell-out concert at the Olympic Hall - there was something for everyone – fast songs and ballads. All their best known hits, including “Basket Case”, “When I Come Round”, American Idiot” and “21 Guns” were enjoyed by the audience of some 13,000 fans.
As an opener, Green Day played "Song of the Century" followed by "21st Century Breakdown", the title song from the current album. The band led by Billie Joe Armstrong, celebrated two and a half hours together with their fans who were hugely impressed by their fantastic performance.
For those who weren’t able to purchase any of the coveted tickets for the Olympic Hall, there was some consolation. On December 4th, at 20.00 h, MTV showed a compilation of the concert as part of its series "MTV World Stage". A DVD may also be published.
The concert in Munich was recorded by Euro Media Group’s subsidiary - nobeo for Production Company - Done & Dusted. The OB truck – "nobeo 1" was used for the HD recording with ten cameras - including three wireless cameras around and on the stage - as well as nine VTRs.
The audio recording was organised by the band itself, supported by nobeo providing the atmo-miking. At this gig, nobeo’s crew and OB truck once again demonstrated their particular suitability for recording complex shows and concerts coupled with the expertise required during the rig which, due to the tight schedule, had to take place at the same time as the stage set up. The HD recording was directed by Russell Thomas, who had already had a very positive experience with nobeo at the concert recordings with the KOHAR Symphony Orchestra in Syria.
Videos of the Green Day concert in Munich are available on the websites of MTV Germany and MTV UK.
