Making a return to Dutch television is the hugely popular morning show Koffietijd (Coffee Break). The décor for the modernised programme is the villa that was used in De Gouden Kooi (The Golden Cage) - the reality soap that caused a stir in 2006-2008. Several UBF units worked on the show: Cinevideogroup, Unicam, Postproduction, Decor and Filmpartners.
In Koffietijd, two presenters invite diverse guests into the studio for coffee. There are performances, a game and ‘domestic’ slots linked to subjects related to the garden or cooking, which may be pre-recorded. De Gouden Kooi’s control cabins have been replaced with new ones, specially equipped for Koffietijd with apparatus for the transmission of live broadcasts. Four regular portable cameras from Cinevideogroup, fifteen remote cameras from Filmpartners, and a further eight transmitter microphones record the programmes.
There is also a separate system for the reproduction of edited items. Material recorded by ENGs is loaded onto a server by UBF’s Postproduction unit. This server is linked to an editing set onto which the items are edited, and these are transmitted via glass fibre to a control unit at the television centre.
The centre houses an Air Speed server, enabling two sources to play out simultaneously. An inscriber, providing the material for the games, completes the line-up.
