Spectacular Excavator Bet on "Wanna bet..?"

Spectacular Excavator Bet on "Wanna bet..?"

On February 27th, 2010 German public broadcaster ZDF presented the 187th issue of the show "Wanna bet..?", this time live from the Exhibition Hall in Erfurt. For one bet that took place in Aldenhoven near the city of Aachen heavy equipment was used. Hosts Thomas Gottschalk and Michelle Hunziker presented the contestants Klemens Renschen (43) and Siegfried Niemöller (42) from Cloppenburg.

The two wanted to swap excavators from one truck tender to another whilst driving approximately 60 kilometres an hour in parallel formation within one minute! Kevin Costner was the “godparent” of this bet. He guessed that the team from Cloppenburg could make it and won his bet. Up to 9.27 million German only viewers switched on their TVs for the 187th "Wanna bet..?". The show therefore was No 1 with the viewers on that day! On average 7.80 million watched the show and the market share was 25.3 percent (from 3 years upwards).

The excavator-bet was carried out on the film highway at Aldenhoven, where stunt scenes from the action series “Alarm for Cobra 11” are shot. Euro Media Group’s German subsidiary - nobeo was on site with its Dutch sister-company’s (Cinevideogroup) Truck - OB 15 to capture the images of the spectacular excavator bet. The HDTV production comprised five cameras connected via optic fibre.

In addition three wireless on-board cameras and a wireless camera on an accompanying crane truck were used.
