The Netherlands loves Candid Camera style TV programmes and every year Dutch TV comes up with a new format just as successful as the last. Thanks to its experience and expertise UBF is always a favoured partner for recording these ‘hidden camera’ programmes; 80% of them are filmed by a UBF team. The teams’ specialists know which cameras are best for filming in dark spaces and which to use in bright sunlight. They also know when small cameras are most appropriate (it is easier to hide small cameras but they give a lower quality image). Large cameras are used for filming in larger spaces, producing a better-quality picture.
The most recent ‘hidden camera’ series recorded by UBF is My Parents Are Gonna Love You. Parents are invited to dinner by their son or daughter to meet their new girlfriend or boyfriend. However, the new love turns out to be a celebrity, a hysterical diva or a hardcore villain and the dinner becomes a nightmare. Hidden UBF cameras, placed in empty televisions or microwave ovens register the family’s reactions. Other ‘hidden camera series’ recorded by UBF and screened recently on Dutch TV include Banana Split, Ushi & Loesie and Benidorm Bastards. A new series, Upside Down, involving four young people with intellectual disabilities who play tricks on Dutch people, some of whom are well-known, is currently being recorded by UBF.
