From January 26 to February 6 some 3,500 students from all over the world got together in Erzurum, the highest town in Turkey, to compete for first prize in the Erzurum Winter Universiade.
Three events in these games where commissioned to CVT, also a EMG group member, one of these events, Alpine Skiing, was recorded whit a team from Cinevideogroup and it’s own OB15.
The TV compound was 2,800 metres above sea level; the Alpine Skiing start line even higher, at 3,400 metres.
A fixed fibercable and patch system was installed on the slopes to get all the images for the mountain to the truck.
The cameras and other equipment were literally dragged to the top of the mountain in the freezing cold by crew members.
The 2.4km skiing track was covered by ten cameras.
It was hard work to keep everything up and running in the extreme weather conditions, but the crew's experience helped them through the toughest moments.
Of course, they had fun too; they discovered that the fastest way to get back to the compound was to slide down the slope on bin liners!
