Both on the pitch and on the screen, the Women’s World Cup in Germany scored plenty of goals, breaking record after record.
Direct 8 entrusted EMF with the packaging for the international signal for quarter-final (France vs. England), semi-final (France vs. USA) and final (Japan vs. USA) matches.
EMF made use of OB truck HOL 270 from the Euro Media group.
The HOL 270 is a new facility, ideal for this type of packaging work, as it is both a HD control room (5 cameras) and a satellite station.
On Saturday 9th July, the quarter-final match between France and England allowed the DVB-T channel to attract 1.1 million viewers, an historic record with a peak of 2,499,000 viewers at 20:41, at the moment when a series of shots took the score to 4:3!
Then, on Wednesday 13th July, over 3.2 million viewers watched Direct 8 to see the French side.
The semi-final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup between France and the USA attracted an average of 2,430,000 viewers, with a peak of 3,264,000 at 19:34 – at that point a record national audience share of 19.4%.
Never before have such numbers been recorded by a DVB-T channel, allowing Direct 8 be the leading national channel during the match.
A big cheer for our female team on site, to the journalists Alexandre Delpérier, Sandrine Roux and Jézabel Lemonier behind the microphones and to EMF’s technical team behind the scenes!
