Football: a Greek tragedy in 3D

Football: a Greek tragedy in 3D

At the peak of the 25th day of the Greek football championships, Euro Media France was commissioned by ABC productions to direct the Panathinaïkos versus Olympiakos match in 3D for broadcast on Nova sports.

In the Athens Olympic Stadium, a team of 7 technicians set up the equipment with 5 3D cameras, 4 Microfilm rigs, 1 side by side rig, 5 Sony MPE 200 image processors accompanied by the quality control software (Sony quality checker) and a Black Magic VC100 video processor for the conversion of 2D images into 3D.
Once again the match at the height of the league turned into a Greek tragedy. The referee had already stopped the match once at half time, which caused a delay of 45 minutes to the kick-off of the second half, before stopping the game completely in the 83rd minute due to the violent behaviour in the ranks of the Panathinaïkos supporters. Olympiakos were leading 1-0 with a goal scored by Frenchman Djamel Abdoun in the 51st minute.
All the ingredients for a true Greek tragedy!
