EMG-3D for the 2 week Roland Garros tournament

EMG-3D for the 2 week Roland Garros tournament

During the 2 week Roland Garos tennis tournament, EMF will provide the 3D coverage of the matches on the Philippe Chatrier court, as well as the 2D coverage on courts 3 and 6 for France Télévisions.
EMF has also signed a contract with the public service channels to make available and to operate the post production equipment for the important sporting events of the summer (Olympic Games and the Tour de France).
What’s more, DVS, an EMF subsidiary will be present with its new truck and its new Superloupe HD+ capable of producing slow motion images of up to 2000 images.

From the 24th May to 1st June, Euro Media France will be located on the clay courts of the Roland Garros stadium with OB truck XXL2 with a dual control room to film the 2D matches on courts 3 and 6. EMF adds to this equipment an RF camera to follow Daniel Lauclair in the aisle of Roland Garros.

EMF will also provide the post-production means for media formatting (editing, insertion of graphic elements, adding of commentaries etc.) dedicated to the creation of materials for live or delayed broadcasting.

Digital Vidéo Sud (DVS), a subsidiary of Euro Media France, will be present from the 4th June on the Philippe Chatrier court with its new Superloupe HD+, capable of producing slow motion images of up to 2000 images. This Superloupe will be integrated into the new DVS slow motion truck. This small vehicle, 3G compatible like the Superloupe, is optimised to link up with the two new generation OB trucks designed by the production arm of France Télévisions.

Finally, thanks to its vast experience and its know-how in the field of 3D, Euro Media France has been entrusted with the task of providing and putting into action the necessary 3D technology for the competition.

So OB truck United 15 (the Dutch subsidiary for Euro Media Group) has been installed for the 2 weeks with three mirror Total control II Rigs with an Oled viewfinder and one Stereotec Side by side Rig for the wide shots on a remote head with an Oled viewfinder. The rigs were equipped with two Sony HDC-P1 cameras and Canon optics. Thus, Euro Media 3D provides the most optimised rigs for today’s broadcast market.

For the portable 3D cameras, two 3D Panasonic camcorders were linked to the 3D OB truck by means of an optic interface and base stations developed by Euro Media France. Also, to enable the 3D operators to have a production tool as complete as possible, all of the rigs are combined with 3D analysis and processing equipment: 10 Sony MPE 200 processors (Sony Box) allow for the final control of the 3D quality and also offer the possibility for 2D/3D conversion on certain 2D cameras.

Moreover, as much at ease indoors as outdoors, in 2D as in 3D, on clay courts or on artificial turf, the Euro Media France teams were also present on the women’s tennis courts. EMF covered the GDF Suez Open (Eurosport), the Fed Cup (Canal+), whereas S-TV (subsidiary of Euro Media France) was at the controls for the Strasbourg Internationals for ‘Ma Chaîne Sport’.
