"Three, two, one, go!"
Direct 8 officially took its leave yesterday to make way for D8, a free channel launched by Canal+ attempting, with star presenters and new equipment on TNT, to shake up the French audiovisual landscape.
A short show of approximately twelve minutes launched the new channel into orbit, live from the Boulogne studios. So, it was on the set of this new flagship show on D8 ‘Le Grand 8’ [The Big 8] that the presentation of programmes and of its headline acts (Laurence Ferrari, Cyril Hanouna, Daphné Roulier, Philippe Labro, Audrey Pulvar, the ex minister Roselyne Bachelot etc.) took place.
To mark the passing of the baton from Direct 8 to D8, the president of the Canal+ group, Bertrand Meheut, alongside presenter Cyril Hanouna, officially launched the new channel from an OB truck from the Euro Media fleet!
At 8.45pm, at the end of the countdown chanted by the presenters, Bertrand Meheut admitted that he was ‘stressed, but confident’ before pressing the button to launch the channel and the new D8 logo, sporting the black and white theme from the Canal+ logo.
Euro Media France is very happy to have participated in this ‘baptism’ and wishes all the best to this new TNT channel which is looking to achieve an audience share of 4% within the next 3 years, compared to the current 2.2% .
