The 'E-box', the name given to the new EMF mobile units in March 2012, specialised in immersion filming already have many hours of filming under their belt.
During the past three weeks, the Algeco that houses the production hub was sent to our colleagues at CTV Outside Broadcast in England for the filming of a new show: Hotel GB.
Filmed in the Bermondsey Square Hotel in London, the show was produced by Optomen and broadcast Live on Channel 4.
The live production control room was integrated with the hub whilst the post-production took place within the hotel.
CTV and EMF filmed in dual control on 3 floors from 7.30am to 1.30am. In order to do this, 62 remote cameras continuously filmed the daily life at the hotel, whereas every evening from 9pm to 10.30pm an additional 6 cameras filmed the prime time live show.
In addition to this impressive amount of equipment, there was also a crane and a steadycam, not forgetting to mention the important sound work, as the technical teams had also installed over 80 dynamic microphones and 30 RF microphones.
The program is based on the concept of well known personalities Gordon Ramsay and Mary Portas training a group of unemployed people hoping to develop a career in the hospitality industry. Every day, the personnel were set a series of challenges so that their skills were tested.
Members of the general public could book a room in the hotel, visit the spa or reserve a table in the restaurant (with all profits going to charitable organisations fighting against unemployment).
With this show, the production team hope to revitalise and galvanise unemployed people throughout the UK to help them find a path back into work.
