Taken 2, the film from Oliver Megaton, produced by EuropaCorp, has been a record hit with the American box office and has already broken historical records for a French film abroad, a never before seen event for French cinema.
This feature film, which has already taken more than 117 million dollars in sales since its first weekend of screenings across the 50 countries in which it was released, was at the Bry-sur-Marne studios last winter.
The production installed themselves for more than 3 months in the studios to film the interior Istanbul hotel shots (set B5) and the cave shots (set B6).
The film was also the first to be installed at the Studios de Paris (Cité du Cinéma) for the filming of several additional scenes.
The head cameraman Romain Lacourbas was able to rely on the equipment from Transpalux for lighting whilst Sébastien Inizan, the head set designer, benefitted from Euro Media France’s spaces and know-how for the set design.
As such, he used the woodwork and painting workshops, got provisions from the shop and the accessories department and called upon the modern equipment in the digital die-cutting and printing workshops. In short, everything that helped to transform wood into marble and transformed the Bry sur Marne studios into an Istanbul hotel.
Euro Media France would like to congratulate all the teams who worked on this French film, the biggest ‘first’ of all time, on the world’s screens.
