Euro Media France acquires S-TV

S-TV joins Euro Media France and to a larger extent the Euro Media Group at the end of 2011.  
STV will become a subsidiary (100%) of Euro Media France and will bring with it new skills in the guise of mastery of production in the realms of Satellite broadcasting (with Globecast as a partner) with multi-camera SD/HD.

Developments in technology and the miniaturisation of equipment has meant that this “production and satellite broadcast” turnkey concept is also evolving in the markets of filming with 4-5 cameras, primarily in the fields of sporting and other events.

3Zero2 takes up residence in Turin

Having won the contract for the rebroadcasting of the Italian football championships “the Calcio” last year, 3Zero2 has just clinched the deal for providing technical equipment for Juventus home games.
 As such, the OB truck XL3 will be regularly based in Turin in the all new Stadio delle Alpi, renamed the “Juventus Arena”.
This new stadium means a great improvement in visibility for all spectators, notably due to the removal of the athletics track; the Juventus Arena is also the first eco-stadium in the world.

On the football trail: EMF in Albania and Romania

In the lead in their group, France were back on the road for more Euro 2012 qualifiers, and it was Euro Media France’s XXL1 truck that made the journey to cover the Blues in action against Albania and Romania.
In Tirana, Jean-Charles Vankerkoven was in charge of sending TF1’s exclusive signal for Keneo.
Fifteen cameras covered what turned out to be a great night of football, with Laurent Blanc’s team notching up a win over the Albanians, and 6.2 million fans (or a 29% overall audience share) watching on TF1.

EMF, the provider for rugby

With its partnership with Canal+ now renewed for the next five years, Euro Media France started broadcasting the rugby season on 27 August (with the Heineken Cup, the French Top 14 and Pro D2 divisions and the World Cup in New Zealand).

Broadcasting is scheduled every week, with games coming from six French locations: Bayonne, Biarritz, Bordeaux and nearby Bègles, Brive, and the Paris area for the home games of Stade de France and Racing Métro, and all Premium matches will be shown for the Top 14, Pro D2 and the Heineken Cup.

Athletics on Canal+ - a new Superloupe slow motion system to analyse Usain Bolt’s running!

For the 2011 Diamond League meetings "Areva", at the Stade de France, and "Herculis", in Monaco, Canal+ has made use – exclusive worldwide – of the Superloupe NANO, the latest technical innovation from DVS.

It was installed on a rail to allow the Canal+ commentators to give a complete and precise analysis of Usain Bolt’s running.

Both on the pitch and on the screen, the Women’s World Cup in Germany scored plenty of goals, breaking record after record.
Direct 8 entrusted EMF with the packaging for the international signal for quarter-final (France vs. England), semi-final (France vs. USA) and final (Japan vs. USA) matches.

EMF made use of OB truck HOL 270 from the Euro Media group.

3D railcamera on the British GP speedway

On June 25th, ACS achieved another first by using a 3D rail camera on the British Speedway Grand Prix at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff as part of Sky Sport’s live 3D coverage.
ACS’ Pulsar mirror rig was installed on a Stab-C mount to race along  with the speedway motorcycles from the start right up to the first corner.
Needless to say only a powerful high speed railcam can keep up with the bikes as they go off full throttle.
Convergence and Stereography for the rig were carried out in ACS’ dedicated 3D operating vehicle.

World Table Tennis Championships

Rotterdam's Ahoy was the centre of the world, or at least the world of table tennis world, for a whole week in May.
During the World Table Tennis Championships, the best players from around the globe competed against each other in five different events.
United Broadcast Facilities (UBF) was commissioned by Tokyo TV to record the championships, ensuring that viewers in Japan could also enjoy the matches.
The World Table Tennis Championships are an important qualifier for the 2010 Olympic Games.
